In 1947, Bob Kuhn opened his first shop, Kuhn Flowers, on Duval Street. Five years later, he met his future wife at a florist convention in Miami. She went to work for him, and they married a year later. The store moved to its current flagship location on Beach Boulevard in 1957. In 1984 Kuhn Flowers was sold, it went through a couple of owners, and in 2015 Marty McCall and his wife Michelle Morgan purchased the store and continued in business under the Kuhn name. Today Kuhn Flowers has locations in Jacksonville, Ponte Vedra Beach, and a boutique, Cattleya European Floral, in Historic Avondale. In the Fall of 2020, Marty and Michelle took on the project of refitting the main location in Jacksonville Florida.
Kuhn Flowers is an icon in the floral industry for being at the forefront of floral design. Known for our impressive window displays exhibited throughout the year, particularly the holiday windows, it’s a must-see on many area residents’ Christmas to-do lists. Busloads of children take field trips there. Senior citizen facilities bring their residents to ogle the elaborate displays showing animated presentations described by many as what you would expect to see in New York, or Macy’s Standards.
