Keepsake Floral Preservation FAQs

Keepsake Floral Preservation FAQs

At Kuhn Flowers, we are proud to partner with Keepsake Floral to offer custom sympathy keepsakes that honor your most meaningful moments. Below are answers to common questions about the flower preservation process when ordered through us.

What happens to my flowers after I order a keepsake?

We coordinate everything on your behalf. Once you select your keepsake and place your order, we carefully package and ship your flowers to Keepsake Floral, our trusted preservation partner. From there, their expert team handles the entire preservation process and keepsake creation.

How are the flowers preserved?

Your actual flowers are dehydrated, repaired, and restored by hand. Each bloom is individually hand-painted to bring out its original shape and color before being arranged in the keepsake of your choice. To achieve the best possible shape, blooms are separated from their stems. Most keepsake styles do not include stems in the final design.

Will the flowers look exactly the same?

Because preservation is a natural process, flower colors may change. White flowers often become ivory, golden, or soft pink. Colored flowers tend to darken, especially reds, which may become burgundy or crimson. Even after preservation, colors may continue to evolve over time. This is expected and natural when working with preserved botanicals and resin materials.

What about imperfections or variations?

Each keepsake is completely custom and handcrafted. Slight imperfections, color variations, and antiquing effects are part of the unique nature of preserved flower art. The framing and resin may also age subtly over time. These natural changes are not considered defects but part of what makes each piece one of a kind.

Can I choose which flowers are used?

We use your actual flowers, but the design team uses their professional discretion to choose the blooms that best fit the layout and size of your selected keepsake. Flowers that cannot be used in the final design will not be returned.

By ordering a keepsake through Kuhn Flowers, you are giving the design team permission to select and place blooms in the way that best preserves their beauty and suits the keepsake you’ve chosen.

How long does the process take?

Because of the care and artistry involved, keepsakes are typically completed within 20 to 24 weeks. Your finished piece will be delivered via a signature-required service.
